Demi Jones, a cast member of ITV2’s “Love Island” has announced that she is battling cancer. The news comes as the reality TV show continues its steady popularity this summer with live episodes every night on ITV2. But Demi says her battle isn’t just coming to an end – it’s beginning now and not stopping until she beats it.

Love Island star Demi Jones has announced she is battling cancer. She posted a photo on Instagram, which was then deleted and replaced with a new one.

Demi Jones, who won Love Island last year, has announced that she is cancer-free.

After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the age of 23, the 23-year-old has had a difficult year.

She posted a selfie of herself outside the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth on Monday, revealing a bright grin after being confirmed disease-free.

‘I’M CANCER FREE!!!!’ Demi said in the post. I completed the task! I received my complete body scan results back and there isn’t a single cancer cell left in my body. It’s been such a challenging year for me psychologically and physically with all of my surgeries and treatments, but I’m so thankful for everyone’s compassion and support over the last year.’

‘I will continue to be a cancer awareness ambassador, and all of my love and strength goes out to those who are still fighting this terrible illness,’ she wrote. ‘Here’s to a healthy and happy 2022.’

Several of Demi’s fellow Love Island contestants praised her, with Liberty Poole saying, “The finest news.”

‘The greatest news ever,’ Paige Turley wrote. ‘You’re such a brave young lady!’

‘The finest news, love you so much,’ Jess Gale responded, while her twin sister Eve added, ‘Love you so much.’

Yewande Biala and Holly Hagan of Geordie Shore reacted positively to the love emoji strings.

Demi disclosed in May that she had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer after surgery to remove a tumor in her neck that she had discovered in January 2019.

In an interview with Metro.co.uk, the reality star discussed her health issues, recalling how finding the lump ‘engulfed’ her life when she was in her third year of university.

‘Then six months later, when I’d graduated and had my degree, I told my mother about it, and she went into panic mode and was like, ‘What the hell?” she recounted. “How come you haven’t said anything?” I went directly to the doctor, who said it’s fairly common – one in every three women has a thyroid nodule – but that it looks nice and that everything would be OK.’

Demi joined the Love Island villa for the winter version in January 2020, and after becoming famous on the program, she started working with companies such as Missguided. She did observe, though, that the lump had become larger later in the year.

Her father’s cancer fight prompted her to have the lump re-examined.

‘When you’re a young girl, you’re more concerned with boys and going out with your friends than checking for lumps and bumps, but it’s only because it’s something prominent on my neck that I knew it was an issue, and unfortunately, my father had a lump and developed cancer, so I knew you need to keep an eye on these things,’ she explained.
